So thrilled that Mari is one of 12 projects through to the first stage of the 2016/17 Microwave scheme. Myself and Producer Emma Duffy, have just finished an intensive week of 'Microschool' with the other filmmakers. The support and mentoring we received was incredible, so grateful that schemes like this exist!

BBC News Interview

Recently I was interviewed by BBC News, discussing women in the film industry and the gender imbalance. I also spoke about the type of women I'm choosing to write and present in film. They followed me on the set of my latest short film Abandon, where I'm pleased to say the majority of crew were women!

Competitions, Compositions & Collaborations

October got off to a great start with two wins at WOFFF ( The Women Over 50 Film Festival ) last weekend.  It was such a pleasure to be part of a festival I feel is doing an incredible and much needed job of promoting the talents of older women in film, both in front of and behind the camera.  A Moment To Move screened and received accolades for both Best Drama and Audience Choice awards.  The judging panel had this to say:

"A delicate portrait of the older generation feeling invisible and trapped.  A moment of freedom and anonymity give us the joyous insight into our heroine's true self. Beautifully understated with an uplifting denouement. We loved it."

Percussionists Zands Duggan & Louise Anna Duggan have been composing and recording for my next short film - Abandon. Having worked together on three films it's great to be collaborating with them once again.  A busy and exciting first week in October with lots more to come...

Underwire Film Festival Interview

Catching up with Underwire Alumni

A nice piece on what's been happening since I won the XX Award for A Moment To Move at last years festival.

What do you think would benefit female filmmakers trying to make it in the industry?
"More exposure to the many diverse roles available in the film industry to women. Too much attention is put on on either being an Actor or a ‘Female' Director! Greater promotion of female Cinematographers, Editors, Sound Designers, Art Directors and so on should be happening and put in front of young women so they can see the options. On my first job as a runner I was the only female on set, that was an intimidating experience and one that in my opinion shouldn’t be the case, it has to be more balanced.         To me it's simple, men and women watch films therefore men and women should be making them."
